The book a long way gone is a non fiction book about a boy named Ishmael lived sierra during when the civil wars was raging on in the early 90s between the military and rebel army. When the rebel soiders atacked his village where his family lived he never saw them again but he was in a village about 12 miles away at the time with his friends and older brother. They where coming back from the talent show when they saw people wounded running through the jungle and people looking for there family so now they where alone just trying to survive. Ishmael was eventauly sepparted from his friends and was in a orphange. A person from the sierran army came and recutied them for the army and convicing them to join by saying stuff like to get revenge for there family members and how they should pay for what they have done. After he served as a boy solider he was sent to a rehabilatation center in NYC for kids like him that where boy solider.
